Insurance Complaint against: Citizens Property Insurance Co
Coverage Type: Homeowners Insurance

  • Underwriting - Premium Too High
  • Underwriting - Refusal to Insure
  • Underwriting - Nonreneweal
  • PolicyHolder Service - Delays/No Response
  • General - I feel abused by this company
Constant increases in premiums and increased deductibles, now I get a notice of non-renewal, alleging that a tree is touching my house, which is not true. I did pay to have all foliage removed that had the potential of touching the house. They sent out inspectors as a reason to up our rates, to cover the cost of the inspectors. They did not say so, but how else would they justify the cost. I have included a copy of the letter I sent Citizens Insurance company. Dear Citizens: I recently got a notice of non-renewal, because of trees touching house, even though they were not. Instead, I paid hundreds of dollars to remove anything that was near the house. I then sent photos of compliance. I have not received any reply regarding my reinstatement. Even if every tree in the neighborhood hit my house it would not cover the deductible. I can't believe that you consider me a risk, with all the years that I have paid my premiums I have never filed a claim. Where is the risk. Your company is just taking money and not giving anything in return. The deductibles are so high that I could never file a claim. I am a widow below the poverty level and I pay more to you than my mortgage principal. Does that seem right to you. I believe that you are ... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: Humana
Coverage Type: Health Insurance

  • Claim Handling - Fraud
  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
  • Marketing & Sales - Misleading Advertising
  • Marketing & Sales - Misrepresentation
  • General - I feel abused by this company
I applied for Medicare Replacement with Humana and as part of the application process I was asked to provide a list of my doctors and my prescription medications. I was told by the sales person that the plan she recommended provided coverage for all medications and that all my doctors were in the plan. When I first filled my Diabetes medication (the one I had listed) it was refilled, but shortly thereafter a letter came saying that this drug was not covered and in order to continue using it I need a "pre authorization" from my doctor--I called and complained that this was not what I was told initially and a representative said he would fax the form to my doctor which should take care of the problem. The next month came and the refill was denied pending the "pre authorization". When I called again I was passed along to quite a few different departments and finally told that the "pre authorization" was denied due to lack of information. I feel that I was tricked and deceived by this company as I never would have taken their coverage if I had known this drug was not going to be covered. I do no understand how they can say it is covered and then decide it is not. When I enrolled there was a lengthy phone conversation which they... Read More

  • Underwriting - Premium Too High
i recently terminated employment with O'Reilly Automotive on December 18,2012. by law O'Reilly's was supposed to send me a COBRA letter within 45 days. they did not. They had even forgot to take me off their group health plan on Dec.31. One month after I left O'Reilly's my was diagnosed was diagnosed with inoperable bone & stomach cancer. She was admitted to the hospital on Jan.18 & to our amazement my O'Reillys health insurance(CIGNA) was still in effect. I called CIGNA to make sure & they told me me my wife was insured until O'Reilly's told them otherwise. O'reillys explanation was "it's a long story. When I finally secured a lawyer to threaten them, I got my COBRA insurance & now CIGNA is illegally overcharging me by $400 dollars a month. What can be done... Read More

First off, insurance coverage usually is terminated the last day of employment. Sometimes employers will extend coverage until the end of the month, but it is not something that is required. As for getting overcharged for your premium - most companies pay part, or most, of your premium leaving you only a portion to pay on your behalf for coverage. When you are terminated from employment, your company is no longer obligated to pay that portion and you are offered coverage at what the full premium cost would be - hence, why your Cobra rate is more. Sometimes employers administer Cobra, so it may have been an issue with your employer - not the insurance company. Insurance is expensive and unfortunately isn't cheap. Most employees do not realize how much their employers pay towards their insurance until the whole amount is put upon the individual. I'm sorry to hear about your wife and if you did elect Cobra she should be eligible for coverage for 18 months through the Cigna Cobra coverage. In the long run, when you think about the cost of medical care, your $400 extra a month is well worth it if your wife is getting the care she needs.

Insurance Complaint against: State Farm Insurance
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle

  • Underwriting - Premium Too High
  • Underwriting - Nonreneweal
  • General - I feel abused by this company
I have been a customer of State Farm for over a decade, I have everything I own with State Farm, Cars, home & life insurance, recently I received a letter about non-renewal of my autos due to excessive claims, I have had two accitdents claims and two roadside claims within the last two years and one due to an act of God, I was under the impression taht the roadside claims could not cause a company not to renew, these were $60 dollars claims, I have paid several thousands of dollars over the life of my policies and I feel the company has not been fair. Recently I check the 6month premium on State Farm website, the amount listed there was $400 doallars cheaper than what I have opaid, upon contacting state Farm requeting a copy of the renewal amounts, I have been told I would be mailed a copy, two weeks later nothing has been received, I would like to file a complaint with the insurance regulators and I am not sure who to contact, I will be moving all of my polices to a new carrie this month.... Insurance Complaint against: State Farm Insurance
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle

  • Claim Handling - Denial of Claim
I have been a customer at BUSS HILL State Farm since 1997. Husband and wife coverage for multi car discounts. Unfortunately in 2008 and 2009 I had heart problems and kidney cancer. Fortunately my wife was able to make all our insurance premiums payments. We paid $7200+ in premiums since 2005, without ever having a claim. In 2011 I had a fender bender. Made a police report have photos of little or no damage. Police officer wrote report and did not issue any violations. However to our surprise the officer notified me and my wife we did not have insurance coverage. We called BUSS HILL’S office and immediately reinstated car with a check written by my wife. I filed a report of this fender bender and requested an estimate of claimed damage by other party involved in fender bender. The other person in the fender bender went to Attorney Mark Shapiro, who has represented me in the past re: real estate. I think that would be a conflict of interest. Mark Shapiro’s office was able to make a settlement with Metropolitan Insurance for $20,000+. I have never been notified of any loss of work, cost to repair, or any other pain and suffering this person claimed. Now I am being sued for $20,000+ from a collection attorney and they have gone a... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: GEICO
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle

  • Claim Handling - Delays upon Delays
I have been trying to obtain PIP benefits from GEICO for three of our patients, one since January 14th. I have made numerous attempts by email, fax and by phone. They disconnect by phone without my ever reaching a person to speak to. On their website they insist that I fax and/or email and promise that someone will get back to me within 24 hours. This never happens. With the new PIP laws with the new time constraints, I can't help but feel this is a strategy on GEICO's part to save money. No matter what their reason...this is inexcusable. They are only adding to the misery of these people who have policies with them. Our patients have been injured in MVA and have insurance to help them. GEICO should be held accountable for their "inaction".... Read More

Insurance Complaint against: Farmers Insurance Group
Coverage Type: Auto/Boat/Motorcycle

  • Claim Handling - Unsatisfactory Settlement/Offer
  • Claim Handling - Unjustified Accusations
  • General - I feel abused by this company
This a about an accident that occurred July 18,2013. Where a Farmers Insurance employee, driving a company car that had adjuster written on it, failed to yield to oncoming traffic where he proceeded to collide into my 1998 Ford Windstar while I was at a complete stop in the 3200 block on N.E. 4th st. The Farmers agent who caused the accident showed no remorse whatsoever, but I guess that goes with the job. He totaled my van and did not even make any physical contact with me or my 3 passengers. After all that and over 10,000 in bills and having to stop working as a lead painter, going through unemployment to go back to school to be retrained so that one day I can go back to work as an Occupational Therapy Assistant.I am 55 yrs. old and it is very hard going back to school after 38 years, but I will do what ever is necessary.mean while Farmers is throwing out offers of 240.00 a piece to my passengers and 2100.00 to me. They told me that their driver was only 60% in the wrong. And they have been sticking to their guns ever since. But i Know That know one likes insurance companies so if I can get them into court in the next 3years or so, and let their public pass judgement on them. Then and only then will justice be served... • Claim Handling - Delays upon Delays
My vehice was struck by another vehice on Nov 16th, 2012. While i was sitting still waiting to make a turn.. The owner of the other vehicle admitted being at fault to his insurance company. Because his insurance company notified me & told me so, when questioning me about the accident. I had to rent a car for approximately 2 weeks. I reported the accident to my insurance company. My car has been repaired by my insurance company. I had to pay a $500.00 deductible plus $60.00, for my part of the rental. How long should i have to wait to get my deductible & rental fee reimbusted. Statefarm stated that they will get my $500.00 deductible back. But i,m on my own to get my rental fee of $60.00 back, from Nationwide Affinity Ins Comp of America. If a person admitted being at fault. Why doe,s it take so long for the other insurance company to reimbuse a claim?... Read More
